Mike Phillips

Mike is a Senior Managing Director of Porchlight Equity with more than 20 years of experience in mergers and acquisitions and private equity. He has led investments in the consumer, business services, media, and manufacturing sectors and is involved in all aspects of the investment process from investment origination, transaction negotiation, and execution of post-closing development.

Background

Prior to Porchlight Equity, Mike was a Managing Director at H.I.G. Capital LLC, a leading middle market private equity firm. He joined H.I.G. Capital in 2004 and helped build the Boston office while leading investments in the firm’s LBO funds. Prior to joining H.I.G. Capital, he was a Consultant with Bain & Company, a global management consulting firm, where he directed diligence efforts for leading private equity investors and gained experience with post-merger integration, developing growth strategies, and implementing operational initiatives for mid-market companies. Before Bain, he was an Associate with Electra Partners, a London based private equity firm focused in investing in lower middle companies. He started his career in the investment banking group of Lehman Brothers.

Mike has held positions on the Board of Directors of HFI, Inc., Westaff, Insight Global, AERT, Lucas Group, Next Generation Vending and Food Service, ARBOC Specialty Vehicles, nextSource, and Constructive Media. He is also a Senior Advisor to Northbridge Partners, a commercial real estate firm.

Interests

Mike currently lives in Concord, MA with his wife and two children. He enjoys all forms of fitness activities, tennis, golf, classic video games, consuming media in all its forms and coaching youth sports. While he is far from an avid surfer these days he will still take the occasional surfing trip.
